2022/5/5 (THU) starts the Campus-wide online learning drill for two weeks
Dear faculty, staff, and students,
Greetings, and hope everyone is well!
According to the Ministry of Education (MOE)’s guidelines for class suspension, if the number of university members identified as “confirmed case” or “close contact” reaches one-third of total number of classes, campus-wide class suspension can be implemented. To prepare for possible implementation, the NSYSU COVID-19 Prevention Team has decided on May 3 to impose a campus-wide online learning drill for two weeks starting May 5. Contingency measures after May 19 will be announced in response to the development of the epidemic.
Measures for online learning drill:
- All courses should be conducted online, and department/institute offices shall assist instructors and students in becoming familiar with the online learning mode. Instructors are to pay attention to student attendance and keep records of digital course materials, online interactions, quizzes, and class reports for future reference to ensure effective learning.
- Instructors are requested to confirm the original online learning class assessment method. If adjustment is needed, please make the revision by May 9 on the online course syllabus system. Instructors can adopt the following class modes: synchronous, synchronous with video recording, or asynchronous.
- The previous announcement of “the University is adopting distance learning mode from April 18 to June 30 for classes with more than 80 students” continues to be in effect.
- Practical courses (i.e. lab work or physical education) should also adopt an online learning mode such as providing course materials or instructional videos plus online discussion or reports. If instructors find that an online mode cannot be adopted, make-up classes can be scheduled later when in-person classes resume.
- Resources for distance learning:
Cyber University-Distance Learning tools. - Students’ absence due to the epidemic during this period should not affect their class performance and scores. Please provide make-up options to ensure continuous learning for students.
The University appreciates your cooperation greatly during these challenging times for our campus to maintain normal function and continue with daily activities. The NSYSU family has come through many crises together along the way. We are asking everyone to stay alert and be supportive of each other for the well-being of the University and Taiwan.
